[UGH like it's not WRONG but you didn't have to call attention to it.]
I think it's perfectly normal to be concerned after how you were actin'. There's bein' tired and there's bein' completely checked out. You expect me ta believe that was just you tired? [In other words, he counters your callout with one of his own.]
(Of course he's going to call attention to it exactly because Raven doesn't want him to,)
You're sharp but I guess that's a part of your job, huh?
(And it would only make sense for him to be more aware of the little things around people he's spent more time with. People he's cared about.
... Heh.)
No, I wasn't tired. Hua Cheng and I were pretty good about looking out for each other, especially last night.
(He owes him. Both of them. So, yeah, something was definitely wrong.)
... I guess you'll find out eventually since I ran into enough people. (When he was still figuring things out,) My head wasn't in the right place yesterday.
At first it was little things like making one cup of tea and forgetting I'd already made another or going into a room and forgetting why I'd gone there. (Hence, all of those tea cups he had last night.) But by night... Things were missing. Bigger things, like things that had happened back home.
Things like, "Don't steal!" and "Don't kill!" are perfectly fine. (Those are good. We should definitely follow those.) But there are some like, "Don't ask questions" and "Just do as you're told." I've never liked those.
I dunno. Sometimes stealing is justified. [RAVEN???]
But yeah. Some people can live just fine within those rules, some people can't, and some people seem ta thrive on flaunting them on purpose. I was like that, when I was yer age.
Why would I steal a kitchen knife when I have a sword? [Or well, sword type thing. You know.]
You know. Long time ago.
[A beat, a pause, as he seems to waver on a decision to elaborate, and then deigns to;] When yer the second son, people ain't as concerned with what ya get up to. Sometimes ya gotta act out a little. [For attention.]

Like yer memories. Your short term memory first and then longer ones.
[HMMMM?]
Obviously this is different from what we seem to lose on Monday, since you gradually lost a lot and then got it back.
[A beat]
You do have all of that back now, yeah?
no subject
(He's quiet for a moment, really thinking about how he's going to answer this one,)
Pretty sure I got it all back. At least, I remembered everything I was doing today. I remembered how to use my bow and...
(That other thing he forgot.)
I feel normal.
(As far as he can tell.)

Weird. You do something ta piss off the Realm lately?
[Since like what else would have caused this but the Realm.]
no subject
(Or, "What did you do?")
Not that I'm aware of, no. I managed to speak to one of our masked friends before night ended and they seemed just as lost. It's just another mystery.

[In any case.]
That seems like the norm with those six. As far as I can tell, they ain't got a much better idea of the situation here than we do.

(And he says that last word like it's g r o s s )
Really pesky. It would be easier if we could bend and break them a little more easily...

[Very strong.]

(PUT BACK THE KNIVES)
And how long ago was that, old man?
